The Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation is dedicated to exploring creative solutions to technical challenges by fostering education and cooperation among industrial, academic, clinical and regulatory communities.
The Annual BioInterface Workshop and Symposium brings together surface science leaders for three days of sharing breakthroughs in ideas, products and services. The networking alone pays off for attendees through building current and new relationships.
Supporting members benefit not only from substantial discounts to the BioInterface Conference, but also have a voice in the development of the topics for presentations and determining who will serve on the Board of Directors to shape the future of the Foundation.
Where else can you sit next to some of the most renowned names in the biomaterials industry and have a personal conversation with them? Ask those questions that you have always wanted to ask.
The Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation meeting, "Biointerface" , includes industry representatives and experts from device and supplier companies both large and small, as well as some of the most knowledgeable clinicians, governement regulators, students and educators. It is all about interacting – the breadth and depth of understanding of how device surfaces interact with the body is only surpassed by the casual, intimate setting where everyone is approachable, and everyone interacts with everyone.
Since its inception as a practical group to fill the vacuum of applied surface science, The Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation has allowed members an opportunity to contribute as well as to take away nuggets of wisdom. If a member wants to know more about a topic, the organizers are quick to allow session development for meetings, or to interviews or contributed articles for the SURFacts newsletter. Show-casing my company by exhibiting, and networking at the meeting, has gained life-long friends, students, mentors and customers.
Always seeking out and spotlighting new applications of surface-related chemistries and devices, biological reactions to, and regulatory and clinical outcomes for these products the society keeps itself cutting-edge by involving as many members as possible in its planning and its quest for the latest technologies. It educates with the newletter. It inspires with brain-storming sessions. It incites thought and even action with controversial topics. Above all, it is fun and professional.
My company could not be where it is today without the strong alliances forged through these years of membership. Thank you Surfaces!

SIBF is the one place where industrial membership is the foundation for development. Members know the challenges of medical device development within small and large companies, and are there to share our practices and solutions. I need efficiencies in my professional life, Surfaces gives me the contacts of people who I know, trust, and can help me solve real problems. I have used many of the members as consultants to my projects, or have called them up and asked for guidance, or kicked around some discussions on specific problems. I encourage everyone to become an active member of this foundation.

I find the Foundation to be of unique value in bringing together world leaders in Industry, Academia and other institutions for highly conducive to intensive interactions with colleagues. I observed the development and enrichment of the Foundation to the wonderful, inclusive organization that enables discourse of Biomaterials technology, especially cutting-edge fields such as tissue engineering, composite medical devices, and drug delivery, etc. The Foundation has remained one of the most attractive professional organizations for medical product corporations, with which I have been associated for 32 years of my career. Its translational orientation makes membership and participation in the Foundation a high value proposition to Industry.
